Used this rack for a hybrid, a cruiser, and a child tag along. Rack held all three securely with suffient space. This was on a 98 Camry and bikes were held out far enough to not contact car.
I used a bungie cord to secure front wheels from banging around. Straps held securely and did not need constant re-tightening during 8 hour trip.
